UPDATE: Mayor Toni Harp has confirmed she will attend today’s Sanctuary City Ordinance rally at New Haven City Hall at 5:30 pm

Unidad Latina en Accion (ULA) has been working on codifying a New Haven sanctuary city ordinance for over 2 years. ULA has gathered over 2000 signatures for a petition from city residents, met with over 20 sitting alders, and met with Mayor Harp to discuss the merits of passing a sanctuary city ordinance. New Haven residents will speak at the “Rally for a Sanctuary City Ordinance NOW!” at City Hall on Wednesday at 5:30 pm, and the mayor’s office has confirmed that she will attend. Mayor Harp is expected to make an announcement about the ordinance at the rally.
